Escola de Samba Internacional was founded by Nubia Quele and Sashya Jay. They are both official Passistas with Imperio Serrano in Rio and amongst only a handful of Samba instructors worldwide who are accredited and endorsed by Carlinhos Salgueiro (Rio’s leading Samba choreographer and instructor) to teach his signature technique.
The aim of Escola de Samba Internacional is to foster the integrity of Brazilian Samba culture on a global scale. As part of the larger Samba Internacional brand, the school was created to in order to provide Brazilian dance education that is respectful to cultural authenticity and up to speed with the dance and artistic trends in Brazil.

Nubia Quele Santos is a dancer/ choreographer, actress and philanthropist born in Minas Gerias, Brasil, raised in Sydney, Australia and living in New York City. She is a sought after Samba Instructor officially accredited by Carlinhos Salgueiro (Rio’s foremost and Samba choreographer) to teach his signature technique. Nubia is also a Passista for one of Rio’s top Samba school’s Imperio Serrano and parades with the school’s official Ala das Passistas in Rio Carnaval.
Nubia is the founder and director of the NYC based Brazilian entertainment company, Casa Brazilia. Her expertise was vital in helping promote the Rio Olympics in the USA. She was the assistant choreographer and principal dancer for NBC Universal Rio Olympics launch event held at the prestigious Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Casa Brazilia was the officially dancers for Team USA on their Road to Rio and during the Olympics. Casa Brazilia worked with Olympic partners in support with United Stated Olympic Committee appearing on the Highest rated morning show ‘The Today Show’ multiple times to promote Brazil and Rio Olympics.
As a choreographer, Nubia choreographed for the successful Off Broadway Show ‘Rio The Musical’ and the Off Broadway show ‘Futurology’. She was the choreographer for Indeed’s first TV Commercial, as well as doing choreography for the prestigious Estee Lauder brand ‘Mac Cosmetics’.
She is also a well-rounded performer with over 15 years experience in traditional and world dance styles. She is currently a dancer for the international hit dance show ’Mystic India - The World Tour'. She was a lead dancer and choreographer for Australian’s premier Brazilian ensemble Rhythm Brazil and was in the Top 40 on So You Think You Can Dance (Australia).
Nubia’s acting credits include film and stage productions, such as the Off Broadway plays ‘OY!’ and ‘Black Latina’, and the movies ‘Nowhere to Run’ and ‘Me, Myself I’. She has had roles on the hit TV show ‘Deadly Women’. She has appeared in various commercials including Kodak, Virgin Blue Airline and Milana Bra. Currently she can be seen in commercials around the world for Indeed, Staples, Carmax and Fidelis Care.
